Since 2021, Christmann decided to streamline their portfolio. Making only their Aus den Lagen and single vineyard wines (Erste Lage and GGs). For those who are new, Christmann now owns only Erste Lage and Grosse Lage. They sold off their Gutswein and Ortswein vineyards. i.e. regional and village quality vineyards. - Aus den Lagen Spätburgunder 2021Nice red fruits (cherry) aromatics with complex capsicium notes and subtle vanilla. Very juicy and delicious - almost like Bernhard Huber style! Even more impressive nose after 30 minutes post opening. Medium-light bodied. Good structure, slight spiciness like Vosne. Lovely with food. As per above, most of the vines come from young vines of IDIG Grand Cru. No brainer because quality wise, this definitely punches above a regional level.
